Organised labour has suspended its nationwide strike over the sale of 60% stake in some four hotels by Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) from today (15 July).
The decision comes after a meeting by the labour unions on Monday (15 July).
The organised labour has, however, issued a one-month ultimatum for Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to resolve all outstanding issues relating to pensions.
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) last week halted plans to divest 60% of its stake in the four hotels.
The hotels are La Palm Beach Hotel, the Labadi Beach Hotel, the Royal Ridge Hotel and Elmina Beach Hotel.
The labour unions last week announced it will begin a nationwide strike from Monday (15 July) over the sale of the hotels to the Rock City hotel group, owned by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.
Rock City has since withdrawn its bid for the hotels.
Addressing a news conference in Accra on Monday (15 July), secretary- general of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Yaw Baah, said organised labour received a letter from SSNIT on the same day the strike was declared, terminating the sale of the hotels by SSNIT.
