The national youth organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has accused former President John Dramani Mahama of selling prime lands belonging to the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra to his close friends and business associates.
According to Mustapha, the former president made a cabinet decision to transfer government land to a business associate known as Casilda.
Addressing a press conference in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Mustapha further alleged that former President Mahama signed over more than US$300 billion worth of Ghana’s entire bauxite deposits to his younger brother.
“If President John Mahama, in the days and weeks remaining after being voted out of office, could take a cabinet decision to give away over 100 acres of prime prison lands, including the Borstal in Roman Ridge and offices and accommodation in Cantonments to a close business associate, Casilda, and also signed off over US$300 billion worth of Ghana’s bauxite deposits to his younger brother, then what might he do if given four more years in office?” he asked.
Mustapha called on the youth to vote against former President Mahama, describing him as a lazy president whose vice president performed far better.
“John Mahama was a lazy president. He admitted in an interview that he usually arrived at the office at 10am and left by 4pm. During his entire tenure, his cabinet met only about 40 times, less than once a month. Civil servants at the presidency during Mahama’s time reported loitering around with nothing to do.”
“In contrast, [former] Vice-President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur clocked more working hours than his boss, arriving at his office daily at 8am and often working until 7pm.
“No wonder Amissah-Arthur set up a campaign office in East Legon, Accra, preparing to contest Mahama for the NDC leadership, though he, too, died suddenly and mysteriously.”
The national youth organiser praised the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as a problem solver and deep thinker.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia understands that leading means solving problems. He is a visionary, highly intelligent, and a man of integrity. He is disciplined, does not drink or smoke, and has never been accused of corruption. His plans are business-friendly and aimed at stimulating growth and creating jobs. The NPP manifesto under Dr. Bawumia includes many excellent policies for the youth, focusing on job creation and economic growth,” he said.
Mustapha and other NPP national executives are currently on a nationwide tour to engage with the youth and promote the party’s manifesto, which aims to create jobs and advance policies for the younger generation.
