Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has given a strong indication that he will partner with the private sector if given the power to lead Ghana as president.
He is of the firm belief that the private sector is the engine of growth of Ghana’s economy, and the commitment of government to the sector will be good for the country’s economic growth.
Among other things the NPP flagbearer wants to do to strengthen the private sector include, a new, friendly tax regime of tax amnesty to businesses, a simple and easy to understand flat tax rate, electronic and easy filing of taxes, flat import duty in Cedis, benchmarking import duty with neighbouring Togo, empowering the private sector-to-undertake public infrastructure projects, as well as abolishing the e-levy, among others.
He is of the strongest view that these will boost the private sector and in turn have a positive outlook on the country’s economy.

Last night, I was honoured to join CEOs and key players of the private sector, at the maiden edition of the CEOs Presidential Manifesto Gala in Accra.
As key drivers of the private sector, I was truly excited to share with the CEOs and other stakeholders, my bold and transformative policies for businesses, and also listen to their innovative and dynamic ideas.
I strongly believe in the private sector as the engine of growth of our economy, and I reiterated my commitment to implementing my bold, business-friendly policies, to ensure the sustainable growth of the private sector, which is indispensable to the growth of the economy, when I am elected President, by the grace of God.
These policies include, a new, friendly tax regime of tax amnesty to businesses, a simple and easy to understand flat tax rate, electronic and easy filing of taxes, flat import duty in Cedis, benchmarking import duty with neighbouring Togo, empowering the private sector to undertake public infrastructure projects, as well as abolishing the e-levy, among others.
With my strong commitment to the private sector, I urged the CEOs and members of the private sector, to invest their trust in me, because I will be more accountable to them and Ghanaians.
Together, with my bold, business-friendly policies, we will reignite the business economy through continuous innovation, enhanced transparency and accountability, as well as commitment to sustainable development.
It is possible!
