The First Lady of the Republic, Rebecca Akufo-Addo was on Saturday (14 September) crowned the Woman of the Year at the 9th annual Ghana Women of the Year Honours.

The prestigious award highlighted her immense contributions to improving the lives of women and children across the country.

The Ghana Women of the Year Honours recognises and celebrate Ghanaian indigenous and diaspora women who are making a significant impact in society.

For the past nine years, the scheme has highlighted womanhood’s untapped potential as well as outstanding examples of empowered women in a variety of fields.

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for her immense contribution to women’s development.
