Otto Addo announces Ghana’s 23-man squad for September AFCON qualifiers

Ghana’s national football team (Black Stars) head coach, Otto Addo, has unveiled a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger in September. 

The Black Stars are set to face Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Thursday (5 September), followed by a clash with Niger at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco on Monday (9 September).

Addo has made five changes to the squad that secured victories in the June 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic. 

Notable returnees include Majeed Ashimeru and Iñaki Williams, both recovering from injuries. Joseph Paintsil and Kingsley Schindler have also been recalled to bolster the team.

However, several players will miss out on this round of qualifiers, including defender Gideon Mensah and midfielders Ernest Nuamah, Salis Abdul Samed, Ibrahim Sulemana, and Edmund Addo.
