General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua, has warned that the NPP will not bow to intimidation by any political party.
According to him, the governing political party would ensure that the elections are peaceful.
Emphasizing the need for all political parties to sign the peace accord.
The General Secretary for the political party made this known when he had extensive deliberations with the National Peace Council Committee on Code of Conduct on Vigilantism and Elections-Related Violence, regarding recent developments in the political arena that threaten the peaceful conduct of the 2024 general elections.
On his part, the Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Bin Salih Mauvi, praised the NPP and NDC for disbanding their vigilante groups but insisted that both parties can and must do more to guarantee peace before, during and after the 2024 general elections.
He noted that the National Peace Council is particularly worried about the frequent use of inflammatory and incendiary language by politicians on radio and campaign events, which they believe threatens the stability of the country.
He implored all political parties to be ambassadors for peace by cautioning their members against the use of violence and intimidation in the lead-up to the general elections.
