NPP will work to erase arrogance tag on NAPO – Kokofu

Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Kwabena Kokoku has acknowledged that the New Patriotic Party is ready to work on the perception of arrogance on the part of their running mate.

According to him, they will present a Vice President who is more relatable and easily accessible to the people.

He noted that Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh is just an assertive and confident young man whose confidence has been confused as arrogance but since that is the perception on the minds of some people, they will work to erase that perception.

“He is an astute politician who is tried and tested. He led the almighty Free SHS policy brought by Nana Akufo-Addo and his exploits at the Energy Ministry you cannot but agree with me that he’s a man that you can trust. He comes on board with that kind of confidence. People mistake confidence for arrogance but this is a man who cannot be intimidated. You cannot run over NAPO so we are not afraid of having him as a running mate. The ticket is solid and winnable and is going to help Ghana move forward.

That’s a perception and people can take it out of concept. What you see as arrogance may be seen by others as confidence and being assertive. However, if that is what people perceive, we are ready to work on all that. We are ready to work on our weaknesses going forward and then hop on our strengths and move on with our strengths. No man is infallible so once people say so we are going to work on it and provide you with a Vice President who is as clean as anything, who relates to everybody and will do the job as expected,” he told Channel One TV in Kumasi.

On breaking the eight, he was grateful to the flagbearer for selecting his running mate from the Ashanti Region.

He indicated that the party in the region will ensure that the New Patriotic Party gets 80% of the votes during the election to help the NPP win the election during the first round of the election.

“We’ve already pledged our full support for the ticket. We will work hard to ensure we get 80% of the votes in order to have a first-round victory for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

We are not going to play, we are going to ensure that we back our words with action. We are not only going to support the running mate but also support the flagbearer and all the entire Parliamentary candidates. It is for us to win this election and it is for us to lose the election. We are not ready to let the people down, we want to carry the people of Ghana along, we want the people of Ghana to acknowledge the good work done and we anticipate to continue with the good work,” he said.

He spoke about unity in the political party indicating that the flagbearer has decided to close the ranks and ensure that all disgruntled people in the political party are brought in to ensure that they win the election.
