NPP Oppressed Me, Mahama Should Lead for Ghana’s Youth – Medikal

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has shared his reaction to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) electoral defeat to the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) John Dramani Mahama.

In a tweet, Medikal recounted his harrowing experience under the NPP government, alleging that he was arrested without a clear reason and detained in the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison.

He expressed frustration over the circumstances surrounding his arrest, revealing that his lawyers’ attempts to negotiate with authorities were dismissed with the explanation that the order “came from above,” leaving them powerless to intervene.

Reflecting on this ordeal, Medikal called on President-elect John Mahama to demonstrate the change that Ghanaians voted for.

He urged the incoming administration to prioritize the welfare of the youth and make decisions that benefit future generations.

In his post, Medikal stated:

“NPP arrested me for no tangible reason, NPP put me in cells, locked me up in jail (Ankaful Maximum Security Prison), all in the name of power. My lawyers tried to communicate with superiors, and all they got in response was ‘it’s an order from above.’

Let it be known to the incoming president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, that I do not trust him but rather believe in him. Let this new change be exhibited drastically! If not for anything, he should foresee the generation of Sharaf, ‘a good friend of mine (his son),’ and the betterment of the youth in Ghana and beyond. Thank you.”
