New Patriotic Party (NPP) Loyal Ladies Greater Accra chapter on Saturday, 6 June 2024, took their activities to the Okaikwei South constituency in partnership with the member of Parliament for the constituency, Dakoa Newman on a campaign rally dubbed “Occupy Kaneshie”, a strategy aimed at mobilising votes ahead of 7 December general election.

The event witnessed thousands of electorates rallying in front of the Kaneshie Police Station ready to engage traders and constitutes in the constituency on the need to elect the party’s presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and parliamentary candidate, Dakoa Newman during the 7 December 2024 polls.

The Loyal Ladies together with constituents of Okaikwei South were spotted in NPP printed t-shirts and the campaign team shared party paraphernalia like t-shirts, aprons, caps, and Dakoa Newman’s “Nkosoͻ” projects magazine which includes some infrastructure projects and initiatives executed during her reign as the MP following her election in December 2020, to everyone they encountered.

“My two boys are beneficiaries of the free SHS policy by the Nana Addo government. Aside from benefiting from this initiative, the MP supports us the traders with startup capital to cushion our businesses which also went a long way to sustain our homes.

She supplies’ stationery for our school-going children among many others. I see no reason why we should vote her out because she has worked and we are proud of her” the Kaneshie trader said.

Dakoa Newman in her address to the media indicated that upon assuming office, she launched the Okaikwei South Nkosuo Project as a transformational agenda to improve the lives of her constituents through a partnership with the government and private sector.

Some of the projects executed include donating learning materials, and furniture to the Accra Metropolitan directorates of Ghana Education Service, donating laboratory equipment, and collaborating with the Rebecca Foundation and Huawei Ghana to provide ICT training for female students and traders.

Other initiatives include the construction of the two-unit kindergarten block with ancillary facilities at Kaneshie 1 and 4, Numo school, streetlighting project, commissioning of an Astroturf park, construction of classroom blocks at Accra Wesley Girls High School, Occasional health screening exercises for constituents among others.

She added that with the enormous work done over the years as the MP, and having won the 2020 elections with 40,393 votes representing 60.82%, she is targeting a win with about 50,000 votes in the December 2024 general elections.
