The Director for Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has accused the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) of engaging in voter fraud.
Speaking during a panel discussion on TV3’s NewDay, Tamakloe alleged that the NPP’s involvement in voter fraud prompted the NDC to adopt stringent vigilance measures in the recently concluded elections.
“I won’t sit here and reveal our strategy, but we were vigilant. The deployment of lawyers was a key part of that. There’s a reason why you have a CCTV camera in your house—its presence alone serves as a deterrent,” he remarked.
Tamakloe described the 2024 elections as the NPP’s worst performance since the country’s return to constitutional rule in 1992. He urged the party to approach its defeat with humility rather than offering justifications.
“The excuse that the NPP lost due to low voter turnout is absurd. If the government had truly delivered for the people, they would have come out in numbers to vote,” he argued.
He also criticized the NPP for being “in denial” about their defeat, describing their reaction as part of the adjustment process.
“The NPP can remain in their delusional state. But one thing you must always remember is that you cannot take the mandate of the people for granted. They will hold you accountable for your promises,” he said emphatically.
Edudzi Tamakloe concluded by reiterating the NDC’s commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and holding the government accountable to the people.
