Nana Kwaku Dankwa III congratulates Mahama, describes victory as ‘Divine’

The Overlord of the Mo Traditional Area in the Kintampo Bono East Region, Nana Kwaku Dankwa III, has congratulated President-Elect John Dramani Mahama. In an official letter dated December 11, 2024, the traditional leader praised Mahama for his emphatic and decisive victory in the just-concluded elections.

“The outcome of the election demonstrated that it was not the NDC versus the NPP, but rather the generality of Ghanaians venting their frustration on the ruling government,” Nana Kwaku Dankwa III stated. “Though your victory was highly anticipated and never in doubt, the margin of victory was divine (Nyame Ama). To obtain a 56%+ win and an absolute majority in Parliament is shocking.”

He described the results as a resounding endorsement from Ghanaians, reaffirming their trust in Mahama’s abilities to deliver on his campaign promises. Reflecting on Mahama’s political journey, the Overlord recalled how the people of the Mo Traditional Area played a pivotal role in his initial election to Parliament in 1996.

“Your Excellency, you would recall that in 1996, during the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, the Mo people voted massively for you to enter Parliament for the first time as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi Constituency,” Nana Kwaku Dankwa III highlighted.

The Overlord further assured Mahama of unwavering support from the Chiefs, Divisional Heads, and the Mo community both in Ghana and in the diaspora. “We will continually pledge our unflinching support to you, Your Excellency, and we will be behind you at all times,” he affirmed.

He also urged Mahama to ensure that his appointees emulate his integrity and leadership style, describing him as a “truthful character” who triumphed against lies and deceit in the election. “We pray that all your incoming appointees will emulate your shining examples that you have been exhibiting throughout your political career,” the letter stated.

Nana Kwaku Dankwa III expressed optimism about Mahama’s vision for Ghana, particularly highlighting his promises regarding a 24-hour economy, women’s banking initiatives, and unity within the nation. He confidently remarked, “If you are able to unite the country and carry all of us on board, the entire fraternity will be clamouring for continuity.”
