Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia 2024 presidential campaign team, has pointed out to Franklin Cudjoe, the founding president of Imani Ghana, that Mr John Mahama whom he supports and has in the last few weeks, been campaigning for, has made his intention to cancel the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) flagship policy of the Akufo-Addo administration abundantly clear.
In a post on his Facebook Wall on Friday, 15 November 2024, Dennis Miracles Aboagye observed that Mr Cudjoe has in recent times, stepped up his “communications” in support of Mr Mahama because it is obvious to him (Franklin Cudjoe) that Dr Bawumia is running an effective campaign compared with the failing campaign of his preferred candidate.
Franklin Codjoe on his X handle stated: “I just saw a political advert by the NPP claiming John Dramani Mahama plans to cancel LEAP, NHIS, Free SHS. It is a BOLD LIE!,” that the plan by the NDC and Mr Mahama to obvious to Ghanaians and no amount of whitewashing by Franklin Cudjoe can change the facts.
In a swift rebuttal to the claims of Mr Franklin Cudjoe, Dennis Miracles Aboagye pointed out that Mr Mahama and his NDC party have actually documented their plan to cancel what has become the most popular social intervention in the history of Ghana particularly, under the 4th republican constitution.
“As for Free SHS, their own document, authored by former Education Minister, Betty Mould, tells us that they don’t believe in it and intend to cannibalise it. They prefer it to be means-tested and they do not think every Ghanaian child must benefit. They want to pick and choose who deserves it. Mr Mahama and his flip-flopping, inconsistencies, lies, and clear dislike for the policy and its beneficiaries are still playing out even today.
“He (John Mahama) says he wasn’t ready to invest that kind of money we are putting in if he was President. And, he is vying to be President and we should believe you that Free SHS is not at risk! Does Imani believe in Free SHS now? We know your position. Mahama insulted 5.7 million Ghanaian beneficiaries of Free SHS and their teachers up and down the country,” the Facebook post by Dennis Miracle Aboagye read.
“He (John Mahama) said the beneficiaries (the 5.7 million students) and their teachers are all fraudsters, cheating in their exams. He says he doesn’t believe the state should pay for every Ghanaian child, he believes others should be made to pay and that is exactly what he will do if we make the mistake of bringing him back.
“And, then strangely, he comes back to say he introduced Free SHS when his so-called “Progressive Free SHS” saw zero progress when he was in power and had the authority to implement. Then his aide, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the policy is a scam and doesn’t make sense one bit. His General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, sings an NDC chorus that Free SHS is 419,” Miracles further wrote in his post.
In his post, Dennis Miracles Aboagye also took on Franklin Cudjoe for his previous comments in which he rubbished the candidature of NPP presidential candidate, and Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. He dared Franklin Cudjoe to step up and present a comparison of Dr Bawumia and Mr Mahama on the issues of integrity and competence alone.
“You remember when you (Franklin Cudjoe) thought these general elections were a mere formality; a foregone matter for your beloved, incompetent former president? You remember when you and your paddies said, NPP nominating Dr Bawumia would make it a cool chop for you and your beloved Mahama? Well, your biggest mistake was to assume, like Mahama, that Ghanaians have short memories.
“Your next big mistake was to underrate Dr Bawumia. I dare you to do the tale of the two tapes: Mahama vs Bawumia. On two things p3! Integrity and Competence. Both men have their respective track records. Even though Dr Bawumia has never been President before, his track record as Vice should suffice. He is sober, focused, respectful, and hardworking and he delivers solutions to societal problems. Oh, and he is not corrupt!,” Miracles post read.
“By the grace of God, Dr Bawumia is winning the 2024 presidential race and he’s winning it in a big way and to your utmost shock. You are supporting a former President whose tenure was a complete disaster but who thinks that Ghanaians will just go vote for him because he’s been in opposition for 8 years.
“If you do not know what is happening, then wake up because Ghanaians are appraising Mahama based on his performance as president and the absence of substance in his promises. Mahama and your lot think he can just cruise to victory because of the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and will not care to look at the naked man promising them designer clothes. Dr Bawumia, so far, has been the only candidate to have espoused clear-cut policies geared towards confronting the issues that matter most to the Ghanaian voter, no debate on that,” Miracles added.
“There is only one BOLD TRUTH here, MAHAMA Will Collapse and cancel FREE SHS or at Best use Means Testing to run the program and the biggest losers will be the masses in our country. We won’t allow that to happen and that’s why Ghanaians will vote against him. We know Mahama already, e no be you go tell us.
“Brace yourself for impact, Franklin, grab your oxygen mask before attempting to help others because with this Mahama job, you have taken upon yourself to execute, it won’t be a smooth landing. Mahama will lose because the people know him and know he will only make things worse in the 4 years that he wants and can get. He will set back the current impressive economic recovery and kill off the social interventions we must protect and enhance,” Dennis Miracles Aboagye concluded in his post.
