Ministry of Education and Right to Play concludes partners in play project in close-out ceremony

Right to Play, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has climaxed its partners-in-play (P3) project in a close-out ceremony in Accra.

The ceremony recognised the achievements  of the P3 project, which has been instrumental in transforming early childhood education in Ghana through play-based learning, fostering inclusive classrooms,  as well as equipping both teachers and students with the tools for 21st-century learning.

Speaking on behalf of the minister of education at the Alisa Hotel on 27th November 2024, the Director-General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Professor Yayra Dzakadie, noted that education infused with play activities enhances learning and literacy in children.

“Play-based education enhances creativity , collaboration and problem-solving skills that are essential for striving in the 21st century.  Through play, children not only grasp academic concepts but also learn to, adopt, innovate and communicate effectively.”  Professor Yayra Dzakadzie  added.

Also providing insight on the theme;  “Play-based learning: innovative pedagogy for 21st century learning, the Country Director of Right to Play, madam Josephine Mukakalisa, indicated that the organisation, together with the ministry of education, has implemented training programmes for teachers, coaching and mentoring them to provide holistic learning for learners in the country.

“At Right to Play, we wanted to bring our contribution to this effort of ensuring quality education and literacy amongst kindergarten and primary pupils. We ensured to achieve this by working with the ministry of education and the Ghana Education Service to achieve this goal.” Madam Mukakalisa highlighted.

The achievements of the Partners in Play project show how impactful collaborations between Right to Play, the ministry of education and other educational institutions have enhanced education and child development in the country. Although the project has officially concluded, its success is anticipated to inspire future programmes that contribute to improving quality education through play, especially in young children.
