The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has asserted that former President John Mahama put the country through a self-inflicted crisis and home-grown hardships at a time when the global economy was rather stable.
Br Bawumia made this disclosure during a forum Sunday November 3, 2024 when he was outlining his plan on how to he would create jobs for the youth once he assumes power.
“Eight years ago, many of you were too young to remember the self-inflicted crisis and home-grown hardships that my opponent put the nation through at a time when the global economy was rather stable and growing”, Dr Bawumia recounted
Dr Bawumia made reference to Mr Mahama’s popular “Dumsor” era, which caused a lot of crisis for job owners and also caused people to lose their jobs due to the power outage.
He further stated that the Dumsor caused low productivity across board.
“Factories could not stay open for months let alone 24 hours. Several Ghanaians lost their jobs as a result of my opponent’s bad leadership choices. The banks were bleeding. Some Senior High Schools had to shut down because the government refused to pay their grants for two years”, Bawumia recounted.
