Maame Dɔkono: Challenges in my second marriage pushed me to becoming a social advocate

Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dɔkono, has revealed that the challenges she faced in her second marriage motivated her to become a social advocate.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (7 August), the doyenne of stage play in Ghana said her personal experiences likely inspired her to address and raise awareness about social issues, particularly those affecting women and children.

“I’ll say the experience in my second marriage made me speak so much about women who were abused, children who were also abused, and all that. Even the third [relationship] is in the book. The third [relationship], it was so much that I didn’t want any child to go through that even the women” Omaboe said.

She added that she believes she has made a lot of impact on Ghana’s performing arts industry.

“I think the performing arts; I can say I made a lot of impact on the performing arts especially, not on television but on stage”

” We started with the stage before I got on television and the television was a smaller part of it but on stage, we did a lot because even Ɔbra, we did a lot of live shows more than the television show,” Maame Dɔkono said.
