Abraham Mensah, a student recently expelled from the boarding house at Labone Senior High School (SHS), is currently receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital in Accra.
According to his relatives, the student was initially taken to the Amanfrom Polyclinic last week and is still experiencing severe headaches.
Raissa Ebu, a relative of Abraham, reported that they visited the Police Hospital after filing an assault report at the Cantonments Police Station.
“He was first taken to the Amanfrom Polyclinic last week. Yesterday, we went to the police hospital after reporting the assault at the Cantonments police. The boy is still having severe headache.”
The family alleges that the incident began when Abraham was accused by the school prefect of using a mobile phone and refusing to hand it over.
During the confrontation, the senior housemaster allegedly slapped Abraham.
Following this incident, Abraham was expelled from the boarding house and now has to commute daily from his home in Kasoa, located in the Central Region, to attend classes in Accra.
This long commute has posed a significant challenge for the student as he prepares for the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The family has called for his reinstatement, expressing deep concern over the impact this situation is having on his education and well-being.
“We are deeply concerned about the impact this situation is having on Abraham’s education and well-being,” said Raissa Ebu. “He now has to travel a long distance daily, which is exhausting and takes valuable time away from his studies.”
“The alleged assault and the subsequent expulsion are unjust, and we are calling on the school to address this matter urgently.”
They argue that the punitive measures taken against him are excessively harsh and have significantly disrupted his education during a critical period of preparation for the WASSCE.
