Private Legal Practitioner, Lawyer Martin Kpebu has described Joshua Ansah as a weak person to hold the position of the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
Lawyer Martin Kpebu during a discussion on Onua FM argued that Joshua Ansah is too old for the position he holds at the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
According to him, the TUC needs young, vibrant and energetic people who can fight and also stand their ground irrespective of the pressure externally by the executive.
“When you look at Joshua Ansah, he is too weak to hold the position of the Secretary-General of TUC. He doesn’t have the energy for the position he went for. He’s an old man. TUC needs a vibrant energetic and enthusiastic person who can handle TUC. Joshua Ansah cannot do that. He is too weak. He has no energy or stomach to fight.” He justified his stance.
He further expressed his disappointment in the leaders of the TUC for suspending their much-anticipated strike over the galamsey menace. According to him, the “Leaders of TUC have disgraced us.”
Organized Labour announced the suspension of its strike which took effect today, Monday, July 15, against moves by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to offload 60% shares in four hotels to a private firm owned by Ghana’s Food and Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong.
The highly anticipated nationwide strike by Organized Labour, scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024, was suspended on the 9th of October, 2024.
Union leaders evaluated the situation and decided to call off the industrial action during an emergency meeting that took place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
According to Organized Labour, after the government promised to address illicit mining, the decision was made. The Ghana Armed Forces’ Operational Halt program was intensified, among other significant measures the government took to counter illicit mining in forest areas.
In a media briefing, the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Joshua Ansah, explained that the decision was made to allow Labour to observe the government’s implementation of these measures.
