Joseph Paul Amoah has represented Ghana at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in the 100 meters and 4 × 100 meters relay, and at the 2019 African Games, he won a gold medal in the 4 × 100 meters relay.

Joseph Paul Amoah was born on January 12, 1997, in the Greater Accra Region, Ghana. He is the son of Amoah and Alberta Antwi but was raised by his uncle Dr. Victor Antwi. He has not provided any information about his siblings.

Joseph Paul Amoah Education

Joseph Paul Amoah is a graduate of Prempeh College in Kumasi where he preferred football to athletics. He then enrolled to study at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Joseph Paul Amoah transferred to Coppin State University in Baltimore in 2017. He took part in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the highest level of intercollegiate athletics in the United States.

Joseph Paul Amoah broke the record of three-time Olympian Emmanuel Tuffour’s 24-year-old Ghanaian record in the 200 meters (20.15 seconds, set at altitude). He runs his personal best times in the 100 meters and 200 meters to 10.01 seconds and 20.08 seconds respectively at the NCAA Division I Championships.

In 2019, Joseph Paul Amoah became the first Ghanaian in any sport to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics by running 200 meters in a personal best time of 20.20 seconds at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship.
