Kweku Darlington, a Ghanaian musician and songwriter, has said that University Education has become uninspiring due to difficulty in getting a job after graduation.
He advised the youth that instead of going to the university for further studies, he’d urge them to work for a while after completing Senior High School (SHS) to make some money.
“The work that I’m doing doesn’t involve a certificate but those who have certificates are charged before being offered a job so things are not in order,” he said on Cape Coast-based Property FM.
“There are graduates with huge certificates but there are no jobs so if we had the hope that after graduation, we’d secure a job like we will school with enthusiasm.
“So right now in Ghana if you complete SHS and you have the strength I’ll advise you to work and find some money, if you make money and you can afford to pay for further studies then you continue.
Supporting his stance, he said the likes of Samini, Guru and Stonebwoy were able to fund their university education after working hard in the music scene to make money.
“The likes of Guru, Samini and Stonebwoy could have continued to the University right after SHS but they had to work hard to make money and after succeeding they’re continuing their education,” he said in an interview.
