The International Precious Metals Bullion (IPMB) has commissioned a water project to improve the livelihoods of communities affected by illegal mining activities.
At the project’s launch ceremony, IPMB founder John Vakis noted that “water is life, and it is essential for a better source of livelihood.”
The director of IPMB Africa and ground operations, Ohene Dankwa Agyeman Duah, emphasised the importance of clean water, citing its transformative impact on the community’s quality of life.
“Access to good, clean water is essential for enhancing the lives of our people,” he said.
The chief of Kyebi-Afiesa, Otafregya Agyeman Kumaning II, thanked IPMB for its initiative and urged other international organisations to follow suit.
“We urge other bodies to bring social relief and interventions to alleviate the challenges faced by our community,” he said.
Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong III, Omanhene of the Wenchi Traditional Area in the Bono Region, was among the distinguished guests who attended the programme.
The water project is seen as a crucial step towards improving the health needs of the community.
