I’ll Collaborate with NDC If They Prioritize My Constituency —A Plus

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A Plus, the newly elected MP for Gomoa Central, has signalled his openness to working with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament but has made it clear that his cooperation will come with specific demands.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, A Plus revealed that the NDC had already initiated contact with him regarding potential collaboration.

“The NDC has already reached out to me, and I’m open to working with them,” he disclosed.

However, his willingness to cooperate is firmly tied to his commitment to his constituency’s development. “My priority is Gomoa Central,” he emphasized. “The NDC must demonstrate commitment to the development of my constituency if they want us to work together.”

He expressed frustration over the state of infrastructure in the area, particularly the poor road networks.

“The roads from Gomoa Lome to Asebu are terrible. There are no good roads in the constituency. They should put us in their plans because Gomoa Central is part of Ghana.”

A Plus also warned the NDC not to let their parliamentary super majority breed arrogance. “They shouldn’t let their super majority get into their heads.

“This is not the time for unilateral decisions,” he said, advocating for engagement and consensus building as essential to achieving meaningful progress. “They must avail themselves for meaningful dialogue. That’s the only way forward.”

While asserting his independence and influence, A Plus did not shy away from issuing a caution to the ruling party.

“We are experts in bringing governments down, and I will spend time to ensure that if the right things are not done. We don’t want that, so let’s do this nicely.”

Despite his blunt warning, he maintained a focus on collaboration for national and local development. “I want development for Ghana and Gomoa. That’s my focus.”
