Ignore the lies about EC printing excess ballot papers – EC

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has debunked claims that the Commission prints in excess ballot papers used for elections.

Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama while speaking to Party faithful in the Northern Region indicated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not allow the Electoral Commission to rig the elections.

He alleged that in 2020, the commission supported the NPP to stuff ballot boxes and that will not be countenanced in the 2024 elections.

But addressing the media, Eric Asare Bossman who is a Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission debunked the claim indicating that there is no truth in it.

He said “This is the total number going to this particular region, this is the total number going to this particular constituency, so if you hear anyone saying that the electoral commission has printed more than necessary ballot, that’s a complete lie.

The parties are aware, they know the ballot statistics for each region, for each constituency. In this year’s elections what the commission said is that we are giving each constituency an increase of 2% and that’s exactly what we do. So those saying we have printed excess of 3,000 here, 2,000 here is not true.
