The Anlo Dukor Council has officially petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to help identify the Member of Parliament who allegedly made a defamatory remark during the ministerial approval session on February 4, 2025.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker, the Awadada of Anlo, acting on behalf of Togbi Sri III and the people of Anlo, expressed concern over an incident in which an unnamed MP was heard shouting: “Shut up – you daughter of a murderer.”

The remarks, believed to be directed at Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the daughter of Ghana’s former President Jerry John Rawlings, were reportedly made during heated parliamentary proceedings involving the approval of Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

The petition states: “It will be recalled that during the approval session of Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, there was a heated fury furore in Parliament that evening.

In the state of the furore, Ghanaians and other persons all over the world who were glued to their T.V sets and listening on their radio sets heard an Honourable member shouting defamatory and obscene words to wit – ‘shut up – you the daughter of a murderer.’”

The Council noted that earlier reports suggested that Hon. Abu Jinapor, MP for Damongo, and Hon. Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei, MP for Bosome Freho, might have been responsible for the remark. However, both MPs have denied making the statement.
