I got close to Kurt Okraku because Nyantakyi appointed me as national team coach – Karim Zito
Ghanaian coach Karim Zito has revealed how he came into contact with Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, leading to their close working relationship over the years.The 2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations-winning coach has become known as a ‘Kurt Okraku boy’ because of their trusted friendship.Zito explained that he grew close to Okraku after former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi appointed him as a national team coach, while Okraku was a GFA Executive Council member."I was given the national team job by [former GFA president] Mr. Nyantakyi when he [Kurt] was the Executive Council member,” Zito told Joy Sports.“You’ve known me for a while—do I deserve to be a national team coach or not? Per your assessment of my work over the years.“I can proudly say I’m the best youth coach in Ghana. If you have someone capable, why go hunting for a coach elsewhere when one of your own can deliver and bring results?" he quizzed."He wants the best that's why I keep getting national team jobs," he stated.Karim Zito is now the Ghana U19 coach and also the coach of Dreams FC, a club Kurt Okraku co-founded.
