The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, the Volta Region is to confer on the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday (29 July), an honorary Doctor of Science Degree.
Director of public affairs of the university, Maria Gwira noted this in a statement issued on 12 July.
According to the statement, the university’s council approved to give the recognition to the president for the roles he played in the construction of phase 2 of the university, implementation of Free Secondary Education and the prioritisation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in the country.
The university said the president has made science education “more accessible to Ghanaian families” and also recognises the “president’s drive to raise the bar in education in furtherance to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4)”.
The management of UHAS also praised the president for facilitating finances for the growth of the only science-focused university in the country.
“We extend our appreciation to the President and congratulate him on his well-deserved recognition,” the statement emphasised.
