The High Court in Accra will deliver its ruling on the applications brought by some NPP Parliamentary candidates from constituencies such as Okai Kwei Central, Ablekuma North, Techiman South, Tema Central on January 4, 2024.
The High Court had earlier dismissed the preliminary objection raised by the learned counsel for the interested party National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Kudzo Edudzi Tamaklo.
The Justice, Justice Agypong relied on authorities including the Constitutional textbook of Prof. Atuguba, Dean of the University of Ghana School of Law on judicial review to reach this decision.
However, the main case of a Mandamus, the court has scheduled to rule on January 4, 2024
The ruling may or may not have an impact on the swearing-in of lawmakers, as Parliament hopes swear in Parliamentarians on January 6 before the President is sworn-in.
