The government has successfully reached an agreement with the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) on their conditions of service.
This breakthrough follows extensive negotiations that started on April 9, 2024, and culminated in a final meeting on November 12, 2024.
During the meeting, the association’s leaders signed an agreement with the government delegation, led by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
Mr. George Ansong, National Chairman of SSA-UoG, expressed his appreciation to the association’s members for their patience and commitment throughout the negotiation process.
“We have not gotten everything we wanted, but we have made significant progress.
“We live to fight again, and we appreciate the support and input from our team,” he said.
Mr. Ansong praised the government for successfully reaching an agreement with the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana.
“We’re grateful for the government’s willingness to listen to our concerns. We’re not just fighting for our rights; we’re fighting for the future of our universities.
“this agreement is just the beginning. We’ll continue to work together to address the outstanding issues, he emphasised.
Mr Benjamin Arthur, Chief Executive, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission Chief Executive, commended the association’s resilience and perseverance.
“We have come to a compromise, and we pray that the implementation will be smoother than the negotiation. We know it hasn’t been easy, but we’re committed to making progress,” he stated.
Mr. Arthur urged the leadership of the association to work closely with the government to facilitate a smooth implementation process to ensure that every member of the association benefits from the agreement.
“Let’s continue to engage in constructive dialogue,” he said.
