Policy entrepreneur, author and driving force behind Global Citizen, Michael Sheldrick has announced that their organisation will be supporting and amplifying the impact of five NGOs in Ghana.
Speaking on Asaase’s Artsy, Sheldrick said, “This week, we are excited to announce that we have selected five incredible Ghanaian organisations that Global Citizen will amplify and support their work.”
The organisations include the Alliance for African Women initiative, the Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights, The Dikan center, the Lilies of the Field, and Stonebwoy’s Livingstone Foundation.
“These are incredible organisations; they have an impact right across the country and many of them also have a focus on women and children’s health, which is one of our core objectives.”
Sheldrick added, “and our hope is that more people find out what these incredible organisations are doing and give us the support but it’s also an opportunity for people to hear the good news as well because sometimes the reality is these organisations at the community level are changing people’s lives and they’re doing so much.”
According to Sheldrick the 2022 Global festival in Accra served two incredible purposes.
“The first was to spotlight and amplify the actions and efforts of incredible organisations including the United Nations here in Ghana.”
“Since the United Nations stood on our stage and made the commitment they’ve vaccinated more than 1.2 million children across the country against preventable diseases.”
“The second was that the campaign drove impact in the creative industry and job creation and that campaign employed more than 1,000 people. It also saw more than 5,000 people travel into the country and boosted hotel occupancy by 75% alone.”
