Glitz Africa has presented the 9th Ghana Women of the Year Honours, a ground-breaking event devoted to elevating women in leadership roles.
The 9th Ghana Women of the Year Awards were held on Saturday (14 September 2024), at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
Claudia Kwarteng Lumor, the chief executive officer of Glitz Africa, noted that the awards not only celebrated the extraordinary achievements of women but also served as a call to action for future generations.
“It is with great honour that I warmly welcome you to the 9th Ghana Women of the Year Honours. Tonight, we gather not only to celebrate the extraordinary achievement of women across various sectors, but also to reflect on the immense potential that women hold in shaping the future of our nation and the world.”
“The Ghana Women of the Year Honours was born out of a vision to create a platform that recognises and celebrates the brilliance, the resilience, and the leadership of women.”
She added that it is a space where we can shine a spotlight on women who are making a significant impact in their fields, uplifting others, and setting the standard of excellence for generations to come.
“We believe that by celebrating these outstanding women, we inspire the next generations of young women to dream big and to aim higher.”
“Each of you tonight represents not only the best of Ghana in hard work, sacrifice, and determination, but also the collective strength and empowerment of women in Ghana and beyond.”
The Ghana Women of the Year Honours recognise and celebrate Ghanaian indigenous and diaspora women who are making a significant impact in society. For the past nine years, the scheme has highlighted womanhood’s untapped potential as well as outstanding examples of empowered women in a variety of fields.
An astute board of achievers selects the honourees based on clear and objective criteria, ensuring that the final list includes the most deserving women in various fields.

Dr Dzifa Dey – Excellence in health category
Louisa Enyonam Ansah – Humanitarian of the year, Founder of precious feet international
Abigail Dromo – Young star
Patricia Poku Diaby – Excellence in business, CEO Plot enterprises ltd.
Portia Garbor – Excellence in media
Dr Mavis Owureku-Asare – Food scientist , CEO , Impact Food hub (Excellence in technology),
Nelly Hagan – Excellence in creative arts
Femi Asante- Activist of the year
Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings – Lifetime Achievement
Angela Owusu Ansah – Excellence in Education
Nana Krobea Asante – Excellence in hospitality
Tucci Ivowi – Excellence in public service
Irene Naa Torshi Addo – Excellence in governance
The First Lady of the Republic, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, was also crowned the Woman of the Year at the 9th annual Ghana Women of the Year Honours.
The prestigious award highlighted her immense contributions to improving the lives of women and children across the country.
Taking to the stage to accept her award, she extended her appreciation to the event organisers, Glitz Africa, for the recognition while emphasising the need for more support for women and children in Ghana.
“Women and children are the backbone of our nation’s economy. We must do more to ensure they thrive, so they can make a lasting impact on our society and country.”
