Ghana will launch debt exchange in coming days, says Amin Adam

Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam has said the country will invite investors in its Eurobonds to exchange their bonds for reissued ones in the coming days

Speaking at a monthly economic update on Thursday (29 August), Amin Adam said  the move is a crucial step in overhauling the country’s debt.

“The completion of the debt exchange will pave the way for a normalisation of our relationship with the bond market,” Amin Adam said.

The minister added that the exchange would last 21 days.

“We expect all bondholders to fully participate in the offer,” Amin Adam said.

He said he believed the exchange would launch next week.

The country has been restructuring its US$30 billion debt to recover from recent economic challenges.
