Ghana Publishing opens first regional office in Kumasi

The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has reaffirmed its commitment to decentralising its operations as it inaugurates its first regional office in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital

Officials say this feat is aimed at enhancing accessibility to essential publishing services across Ghana. The grand opening was held on Wednesday (17 July) and graced by the Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar.

David Boateng Asante, managing director of the GPCL hinted that the company plans to establish more offices across the country. He also highlighted some technological innovations deployed in its operations to the company viable.

“I am excited to announce the upcoming launch of our online platform which we call the e-gazette. This innovative platform will provide our customers with convenient online access to applications and publications in the Ghana Gazette and other services, furthering our commitment to leveraging technology for improved customer services. The establishment of this Kumasi branch is just the beginning. We have plans to expand to other regions, specifically in the Northern Regions in the near future”, Asante noted.

“We have managed Ghana Publishing Company well”, he further declared as he highlighted some of the successes chalked by the management of the state agency.

Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar noted that the new office in Kumasi symbolises a revival of the company’s legacy and its dedication to reaching every corner of the nation.

She recounted the establishment of presses and sales points across the country, ensuring vital information and publications were accessible nationwide. Despite past operational challenges, the Kumasi office’s inauguration marks a significant recovery for GPCL.

“This occasion signifies a monumental step forward in our collective journey towards reclaiming and advancing the esteemed legacy of GPCL,” she stated.

“GPCL has emerged as one of the most viable state institutions. This remarkable turnaround is a testament to the prudent and efficient management.”

The new Kumasi office, located on the first floor of, the SIC building opposite the Prempeh Assembly Hall will serve the Ashanti Region and its adjoining areas, making it easier for individuals and organizations to access GPCL’s products and services.

The presence of GPCL in Kumasi is expected to create jobs, foster local partnerships, and provide timely access to crucial information and publications, thereby enhancing transparency and informed decision-making.

“The establishment of the Kumasi branch represents a practical step towards decentralisation and bringing essential services closer to the people,”Abubakar added.

“It will empower the local population by providing them with timely access to crucial information and publications, thereby enhancing transparency and informed decision-making.”
