Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku signs for Turkish club Kasimpasa

Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku has officially signed with Turkish Super Lig club Kasimpasa SK.At 27, the centre-back has joined Kasimpasa on a free transfer following his departure from French Ligue 2 team Amiens SC, where he played for the past three seasons.The transfer was announced on Monday during a signing ceremony at the Turgay Ciner Sports Facilities, after Opoku passed his medical exam at Liv Hospital Vadi Istanbul."Our new transfer, Nicholas Opoku, after undergoing medical checks at our health sponsor Liv Hospital Vadi İstanbul, signed a contract that binds him to our team Kasımpaşa during a signing ceremony held at Turgay Ciner Sports Facilities," Kasimpasa said in statement.Opoku left Amiens after the 2023-24 season ended, having made 23 appearances in Ligue 2 last season. Over three seasons with Amiens, he featured in 102 matches in all competitions after moving from Udinese Calcio in July 2021.Before joining Udinese in July 2018, Opoku had played for Berekum Chelsea in Ghana's Premier League and Club Africain in Tunisia.He has earned 18 caps for the Ghana national team since his debut in a July 2017 international friendly against the USA.
