GEXIM to host three-day ‘Farmer’s Mart’ this November

The Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) is launching a three-day fair to celebrate Ghanaian farmers and fishermen and spotlight the wealth of local products they inspire.

Branded “Farmer’s Mart,” the event will run from Tuesday (5 November) to Thursday (7 November), from 8am to 8pm each day at the forecourt of the Africa Trade House in Accra, located beside the British Council.

This fair aligns with Ghana’s annual National Farmers’ Day celebrations, designed to honour the dedication of farmers and fishermen across the nation.

GEXIM’s “Farmer’s Mart” will feature a range of affordable, high-quality, and innovative Made-in-Ghana products, showcasing the resilience and craftsmanship of Ghanaian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

From food and beverages to textiles, beauty products, and footwear, the event promises a vibrant marketplace of locally produced goods that meet world-class standards.

Rosemary Beryl Archer, Deputy CEO of Banking at GEXIM, extended her appreciation to Ghana’s farmers and fishers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the country’s economy and the essential role they play in food security.

“As a country, it is important to consolidate the gains made in the agricultural sector over the years. We have also witnessed the introduction of ground-breaking initiatives by the government to increase growth in agriculture as well as reforms to improve regulatory framework to attract more private investment into the sector,” she remarked.

In her address, Archer highlighted GEXIM’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s economy into an export-led powerhouse.

The bank has invested significantly in agricultural ventures and is actively supporting SMEs to embrace value addition and uphold international standards in their products.

This commitment has been reinforced by GEXIM’s ongoing “Tuesday Market” initiative, which Archer said inspired the creation of GEXIM MiG Town—a unique Made-in-Ghana shop on the ground floor of the Africa Trade House.

“After every edition of Tuesday Market, we kept getting calls from the general public on where to buy products they purchased at the fair,” Archer explained.

“As most of the SMEs and other vendors didn’t have outlets where they stock their products. It became necessary to set up the GEXIM MiG Town, a one-stop shop for everything Made-In-Ghana.”

The Deputy CEO encouraged the public to visit “Farmer’s Mart” for exclusive discounts and the chance to support Ghanaian businesses while buying high-quality, local products.
