Get closer to embassies for help – Ablakwa to Ghanaians Abroad

As the number of Ghanaians facing deportation from the United States rises, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has urged Ghanaians living abroad to engage more with their embassies to ensure their welfare and protection.

Speaking on The Key Points on TV3, the minister emphasized the importance of staying connected with Ghanaian diplomatic missions, stating, “It raises the bigger issue of how we protect the welfare of Ghanaians.

“We are going to see new paradigms in terms of consular assistance. Get closer to the embassies, get registered and then we can really take care of them.”

His remarks come in the wake of reports that 156 Ghanaians are facing imminent deportation from the United States. Mr. Ablakwa confirmed this figure, noting that it is the official data his ministry is currently working with.
