Communications Director for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has indicated that people involved in illegal mining must be aware that human lives are precious than money.

He cites the health condition of the President’s Secretary to buttress his point that you can have all the money in the world but your health and life are more precious than the money you’ll make.

Sammy Gyamfi was speaking on Accra-based Metro Television when he made this known.

“Ghanaians must be allowed to do mining, but they must do so responsibly and legally. We must all be angry at what is going on. It is not about a political party, it is about your life. I’ve not had water flowing through my taps for God knows when. Even in Accra, we are feeling the impact.

All because a few people want to make money. Money that you are giving to sidechicks. Go and ask Nana Asante Bediatuo he will preach to you that you can get all the money in the world but human life is more precious. Today he is battling for his life, and I’m praying for his speedy recovery. This should tell you that we don’t sacrifice human life for money

What we need is accountability and not a national consensus. Accountability simply means those we have supported with money, good will, our voices and giving them the equipment they needed to fight this canker and those who promised to put their presidency on the line but today are endorsing and engaging in illegal mining themselves need to be voted out,” he said.
