The National Executive Council (NEC) of CHASS at an emergency meeting convened on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, has advised against the reopening of schools on January 3, 2024, after the Christmas break.
According to CHASS, the reasons accounting for this recommendation are contained in an earlier letter written to the Education Minister and Director General of the Ghana Education Service in August, November and December where they called for payment of arrears in respect of perishables and recurrent fees as well as monies owed to schools emanating from the carting of food items from various regional distribution centers to schools.
CHASS mentioned that Parents and Guardians will be notified of the decision to extend the reopening dates for the various Senior High Schools through its regional branches and PTAs.
