Franklin Cudjoe backs promise to fix streets lights in Accra but warns against procurement breaches

President of Policy Think Tank, IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has backed moves by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo’s promise to fix Accra’s streetlights in 50 days.

However, he has warned against disrespecting Ghana’s procurement processes.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, the said contract must not fall under emergency contracts to violate competitive bidding.

On the introduction of Sanitation Day, Franklin Cudjoe is of the view that it is not the smartest way to deal with the filth in the country’s capital.

He is calling for an intelligent, practical, and entrepreneurial way of dealing with sanitation issues in Accra.

“This is great news if she follows through with this promise while respecting our procurement process. This must not fall under emergency contracts to violate competitive bidding. She must however pause plans to bring back sanitation days. We need intelligent, practical, and entrepreneurial ways of dealing with poor sanitation,” she said.
