The board of directors of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has confirmed that Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah’s tenure as chief executive officer (CEO) will not be extended beyond his four-year term, which concludes on Saturday (5 October).
In a statement issued on Thursday (3 October) and signed by board chairman Dr David Nkansa-Dwamena, the board praised Dr Ampomah for his commitment and the advancements made at the hospital under his leadership.
“On behalf of the board, I extend our sincerest congratulations to you for your dedication and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the hospital during your tenure,” the statement read.
The Board also announced that Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, director of medical affairs at the hospital, will serve as interim CEO from Sunday (6 October), while awaiting further direction from the appointing authorities.
“As we await communication from the appointing authorities regarding the next steps, the Board has resolved to appoint Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, director of medical affairs, to act as Interim chief executive officer effective 6 October 2024,” the statement read.
“The Board’s primary concern remains the seamless continuity of the Hospital’s operations and the well-being of our patients. We solicit the cooperation and support of all stakeholders during this transition period,” the statement added.
