As I put pen to paper, this farewell message, my heart is filled with profound gratitude and mixed emotions. Serving the National Identification Authority (NIA) as the Head of Operations since 2018, alongside my additional roles as the Head of the Corporate Affairs Directorate and Training Unit since 2022, has been one of the most enriching experiences of my professional life.
First and foremost, I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to the Executive Secretary, Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah. Prof, your unwavering support, guidance, and teachings have been instrumental in my journey here. Our relationship has transcended the typical boss-subordinate dynamic and blossomed into a brotherly bond.
I have always admired you from afar even as a military officer but working closely with you has only deepened that admiration. Your fairness, diligence, transparency, and, most importantly, your hard work has not only rubbed off on me but on everyone around you. You are a beacon of integrity, grit, and excellence, and I am profoundly grateful for the privilege of working under your astute leadership.
During my six and half years tenure, the NIA has been honoured to host numerous foreign government delegations, international non-governmental organisations, local institutions and agencies, Their reactions have always been nothing short of awe and admiration for what we have achieved as an institution.
They have been immensely impressed by our achievements, the robustness of the National Identification System (NIS) and now the sterling milestone of registering over 18 million Ghanaians above the age of 15 for the Ghana Card.
The successful launch and progress of the registration for Ghanaians aged 0-5 years since March 2024, and the ongoing pilot registration for those aged 6-14 years old, have been commendable. Furthermore the much-awaited registration of Ghanaians living abroad just commenced in August with pilot registration in North America – Ottawa, Toronto, Washington and New York.
These registration exercises go to signify the completion of the registration circle in the task assigned to NIA to register all eligible Ghanaians living in Ghana and abroad. These accomplishments have not only elevated the
NIA’s reputation internationally but have also set a high standard for identity management globally and
it is all because of your leadership, Sir.
To my outgone Lieutenants, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of my
incredible team. Mr Francis Denteh and Alhaji Abdulai Salifu, although retired, your contributions
continue to resonate.
To my former colleagues Mr Baffoe Mensah, Madam Cecilia Erzuah, Mrs Matilda
Achcampong-Wilson and Mr Ezekiel Obuobisa, your steadfast support during and after the Mass
Registration Exercise (MRE) have been invaluable. Thank you for your tireless efforts, commitment, and
camaraderie.
As I bid farewell, I carry with me cherished memories and valuable lessons. My journey at the NIA has
been marked by growth, challenges, and triumphs. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together.
To the entire NIA family, my hardworking staff of the Operations and Corporate Affairs Directorates, and the Training Unit, thank you for your cooperation, support, and the shared vision that has driven us to achieve remarkable milestones. I am confident that under Prof. Attafuah’s exemplary leadership, the NIA will continue to soar to greater heights.
Although I am bowing out of the NIA, my bond with the Authority remains strong. I will always be an ardent supporter and well-wisher of this esteemed organisation. Thank you once again, and I wish you all continued success and prosperity.
