The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has called on political parties to accept the results of the December elections, emphasizing the need for peace and unity.
Speaking at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday (28 November) EC Chairperson Jean Mensa assured the public that the elections would be peaceful, free, fair, and transparent.
She encouraged everyone to trust the electoral process and maintain a stable and peaceful environment during the polls.
“As a commission, I am pleased to note that we have walked the talk of peace. Mindful of the fact that attaining peaceful electoral outcomes will depend on our actions,” she said.
Jean Mensa highlighted the EC’s efforts to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in its operations, which she said are essential for public trust and credible elections.
“We have, right from the start of our electoral processes, consciously operated and conducted ourselves in a manner that will ensure peace before, during, and after the elections,” she added.
The EC Chairperson urged political parties, civil society organizations, and voters to work together to ensure a smooth and successful election process.
