Central Region voter transfer figures  bloated by  35,517 – NDC Claims

The Central Regional Secretariat of the  National Democratic Congress (NDC) is claiming that the voter transfer figures in the area are bloated by some 35,517, calling on the Electoral Commission(EC) to address the discrepancy.

Speaking to the media, the Central Regional Communications Officer of NDC, Ms Gabriella Tetteh claims that 35,517 names have been unlawfully added to the register by the same EC.

“The Head Office hard drive data issued to the NDC showed a total of 71, 828 transfers, while the 22 District Offices transfers data (printouts issued to parties) showed a total of 36,311, showing a difference of 35,517”. She claimed

She detailed specific examples from constituencies where she claimed voter transfer figures were altered including Effutu Constituency where the transfers recorded as shown by the printouts issued by the District EC was 6,206 but the EC Head Office on the hard drive showed transfers of 10, 113, with a diffidence of 3,907.

Similarly, in the Awutu Senya East Constituency, NDC discovered 5,188 voter transfers while the Head Office data showed 9, 202 for voter transfers, showing a difference of 4, 014.

Additionally, she observed that, in the Ajumako Enyan Assiam Constituency, while the EC District transfer printouts showed 1, 259 voter transfers, the EC head Office data for the exhibition showed 4,286, with a diffidence of 3, 027.

These ugly phenomena, according to her run through for all constituencies in the region.

“A further analysis of the transfers revealed that there were over 14,436 illegal transfers made into various constituencies in the Central Region by the EC. This is indicative of the fact that various transfers were made into constituencies without the EC stating any reason for them or at best reasons that can be best described as ‘absurd reasons” Madam Tetteh revealed.

Madam Tetteh stated emphatically that these illegal transfers were intentionally made to give a comparative advantage to the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the region.

She stated that various transfers within the Central Region have been made without any reason into these constituencies including in Awutu Senya East 1,310, Mfantseman 1,204, Effutu 1,464 and others.

Madam Tetteh disclosed that there were over 1, 400 plus voters whose names were removed from their respective polling stations without any reason assigned for their removal where she mentioned Assin South 287, Assin North 288 and Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem had 536 names found on the absent list without any reason assigned for the purpose.

Central Regional NDC therefore requested a forensic audit and re-exhibition of the 2024 Provisional Voters’ Register (PVR) in the area as soon as possible.
