Leader of LPG, Percival Kofi Akpaloo, has questioned the brain behind calls for galamsey to be banned in Ghana.
He believes it is an attempt to sabotage the incumbent government and put them in a position to become unpopular among the citizens.
Akpaloo was speaking to Accra-based Channel 1 television when he made this known.
“If you remember 2018, the media against galamsey and everybody supported the media. But this one two months to an elections and you are leading this, then it means you want the government to go.
I want to be president but I don’t want to be president that way. I want to be president by having a positive mentality. I want peace of mind to deliver, I don’t want a situation where I want to see a person going down and then I benefit from the person going down. So forget about this strike action, suspend it.
After the election, if you want to solve the problem then you solve it. What if you strike for two weeks and then the government sends the military, then you go back and they continue? What will you do? Will you go on another indefinite strike? Don’t rush into solving problem, we have to sit down,”he told Channel 1 television.
