Ghana’s Black Princesses lost their first game in the ongoing Women Under-20 World Cup in Columbia.
They suffered a painful 2-1 at the hands of Austria.
Austria took the lead in the 12th minute through Hannah Fankhauser.
Regardless of efforts by the Princesses to equalize, their efforts proved futile and wasteful.
The Austrians in the 69th minute, were awarded a penalty ball after the ball went off the hand of Asana Alhassan in the box.
Nicole Ojukwu stepped up and scored nicely to double their lead.
Ghana’s Princesses pulled one back through captain Stella Nyantakyi in the dying embers of the game.
The Ghana Team will look to redeem themselves in their next encounter against Japan on September 5.
