The Supreme Court on Friday, October 18, 2024, stayed a ruling made by the Speaker of Parliament.
The ruling in essence meant that the four seats which were declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament could be occupied by the Members of Parliament who were occupying them.
But at a press conference on Sunday, October 20, 2024, the NDC caucus indicated that they will not accept any attempt by the court to interfere in the affairs of parliament.
“We are fortified that the “proceedings of parliament shall not be impeached or questioned in any court or place out of parliament.
Any interference with the business of Parliament is unlawful, unacceptable and shall be resisted,” they said at a press conference.
