A staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rex Omar has said the Ashanti Region keeps voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) despite lagging in development.
A recent survey released by the Ghana Statistical Service shows that the number of multidimensional poor persons is highest in the Ashanti Region with nearly one million people.
Reacting to the rankings, Rex Omar fumed as seen by MyNewsGh.com in a video on social media he said “Ask yourselves what this current NPP government that you voted for and led by Akufo-Addo, Bawumia did for the people of Ashanti Region in almost 8 years of their administration.
“Ask yourself what benefits have we gotten from NPP in the Ashanti Region and compare that with what former president John Dramani Mahama did in just four years.
He justified “Mahama built the Kejetia market, did the first phase of the Kumasi airport, schools he built, health facilities and water projects that he did across the region in just four years.
“Combine all that Mahama did and compare it with what NPP’s Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have done in almost 8 years they should tell me my people of Ashanti Region.
“So if the people of Ashanti Region will just sit down and continue voting for NPP despite their lack of infrastructural development it’s up to them,” he insinuated.
