Akufo-Addo lacks the temprament to be President anywhere – Gyampo

Political scientist Prof. Ransford Gyampo is of the view that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo does not have the temperament to be president of any country.

He cites the president’s public display of anger and vindictiveness, and power points to the fact that he shouldn’t have been allowed to lead the country.

Gyampo was speaking on Accra-based TV3 when he made this known.

“There is a paper that I’m researching about. Presidential temperament. Akufo-Addo hasn’t got the suitable temperament to become president. Look at the way sometimes he behaves in public.

He sees the Chiefs tell them to get up and asks why they are sitting. He goes to Volta Region and he says things that undermine the respect of Chiefs. GJA President goes on a platform to talk about how those who are protesting against galamsey have been treated and is calling on authorities to act and we saw how the president reacted.

We’ve had presidents; let’s look at even JJ Rawlings, the man who combined revolutionary fervour with democratic practice I’m not imagining JJ Rawlings giving that kind of response. Look at Kufour, do you think that if somebody had said this in a speech and the person was seated with Kufour, do you think he would have reacted in such a way?

Look at Prof Mills, look at President Mahama, they wouldn’t have done that. His temperament is not good, and it appears that these things are coming up because he knows he is exiting. We should begin to legislate about Presidential comportment and how things will have to be done when clearly people know that they are exiting office. It appears that now you can do what you like and I don’t care but if that happens we run down the nation and jeopardize our security,” he said.
