enowned Lawyer, Gary Nimako has wondered why John Mahama then as Vice President and later President went on with negotiations and the acquisition of military aircraft from Airbus when he was fully aware that the intermediary he was dealing with was his biological brother.
He stressed that since John Mahama knew very well that the intermediary, Samuel Adam Forster, was his blood brother, there was a strong basis for a conflict of interest on the part of John Mahama for which he should be referred to the appropriate quarters for further investigations.
Mr Nimako was Speaking on Multimedia’s current affairs show, Newsfile, today, August 10, 2024, on the Special Report of the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) that investigated John Mahama’s alleged involvement in the Airbus Scandal and exonerated him of any wrongdoing related to corruption and corruption-related offences.
He noted that the conclusions of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) should have referred the obvious conflict of interest situation to another agency for further investigation.
“There is a strong basis, in my view, to suggest conflict of interest situations, which should have been referred to relevant authorities for them to look at it again,” he said.
“What was the former President’s interest in closing this deal when he knew or ought to have known that the person behind this deal or leading the transaction was his blood brother?” he quizzed.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed delight over the findings that exonerated the former President of corruption and corruption-related offences concerning his role in the purchase of the military aircraft.
