The Ghana Police Service has warned individuals and faith-based organizations against spreading misinformation or prophecies likely to incite fear and panic as the nation prepares to usher in the New Year.
The caution forms part of broader measures to maintain peace and security during the festivities.
In a statement released on Tuesday (31 December), the Police emphasized that such actions could endanger lives and disrupt the harmony of social and religious gatherings.
They urged the public to refrain from circulating unfounded predictions and ensure responsible communication.
To ensure public safety, the Police announced intensified residential and highway patrols nationwide.
Traffic Police officers have also been deployed at major intersections and public roads to manage vehicular movement, particularly in areas expected to host large gatherings.
Faith-based events and social activities will see heightened security presence, while vital infrastructure across the country is being safeguarded against any disruptions.
The Police commended Ghanaians for their cooperation throughout the year and assured the public of adequate security measures, extending from the crossover celebrations tonight into 2025.
