Young people think the state doesn’t care about them – Mahama expresses worry

Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has expressed worry over how fast the faith in Ghana’s democratic governance is fast eroding.

He made this position known when he met with the clergy as part of activities leading up election of 2024.

The former President who is leading the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 election said “Our country Ghana today is at a critical junction in its history. Faith is fast eroding in our democratic system, especially among the youth.

Young people of this country no longer believe that the state cares about them or is committed to providing opportunities for them to thrive.

A recent Afrobarometer report revealed that more than 80% of our country believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

We need an urgent change and of course, we need a reset. We need a reset of our governance, we need a reset of our economic modules, we need a reset of our attitude and values,” he said while addressing the clergy in Accra.
