Why you should never relocate to Canada if you have a well-paying job in Africa – Man shares

A Nigerian physician, who once thrived in the country’s medical field, is now issuing a bold and cautionary message to fellow Nigerians considering a move to Canada in search of better opportunities.

With firsthand experience of both systems, he is urging people to think twice before abandoning lucrative careers back home for the promises of financial stability in the West.

“There’s a lot of hype about relocating to Canada, but the truth is, the system there is designed to ensure you work endlessly with little to save,” the doctor said during a recent interview. “While it might seem like the land of opportunity, the financial system doesn’t work in favor of individual growth or savings.

The constant deductions from every paycheck are overwhelming, and before you know it, you’re left with very little.”

Reflecting on his own experiences, the doctor shared that when he earned $1,000 a month in Nigeria, after settling all his expenses, he was still able to save up to $400. “That’s something I could count on each month,” he said. “In Canada, however, the same amount wouldn’t stretch as far. Taxes and deductions eat away at your earnings, and saving becomes a much harder task.”

He elaborated further on how the Canadian labor market operates. “The system in Canada is designed to make sure you’re always employed, but it doesn’t give you the chance to really grow your wealth,” the doctor explained.

“You’re working and paying taxes, yes, but the more you earn, the more you’re taxed, and you end up with very little disposable income. It’s not the land of endless possibilities it’s often made out to be.”

This stark contrast, he suggests, is what many potential immigrants fail to realize when they leave Nigeria in search of greener pastures. According to the doctor, while Canada may offer certain social benefits, it is far from the financial paradise many imagine.

“The Western dream can be quite deceptive,” he warned. “It’s easy to be lured in by the promises of a better life, but people rarely talk about the cost of living and how much is deducted from your paycheck.”
